On Saturday, May 24, 2025, the Department of Management successfully hosted an international guest lecture titled “Triangulation in Social Science Research.” The event featured Dr. Mahir Jibril Ahmed, a renowned scholar from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, School of Commerce. Held online via Zoom, the lecture was attended by students, faculty members, and researchers interested in enriching their understanding of research methodologies in the social sciences.

Dr. Mahir delivered an insightful presentation focusing on the concept, application, and significance of triangulation in social research. He explained how triangulation—by combining multiple methods, data sources, or theories—can enhance the validity and reliability of research findings. Drawing from his academic experience, Dr. Mahir shared real-world examples and provided valuable perspectives on how researchers can apply this approach to tackle complex research problems.

The lecture, which ran from 13.00 to 14.30 WIB, was moderated by two faculty members from the Department of Management: Mukti Trio Putra, SE., MBA, and Rhienta Aprisella, SE., M.Si. Their engaging moderation helped facilitate meaningful discussions and guided the Q&A session, allowing participants to delve deeper into methodological issues raised during the lecture.

Participants expressed great enthusiasm and appreciation for the event, highlighting how the session clarified many aspects of triangulation that are often overlooked in standard research methodology courses. The international scope of the lecture also underscored the importance of global academic exchange in enriching local academic discourse.

The Department of Management looks forward to organizing more such collaborative academic events in the future. Through initiatives like this, the department aims to expose students and faculty to cutting-edge research practices and foster a culture of academic excellence and international engagement.
